Brown bins and eco sacks are for compostable garden waste. We can collect these but it's not a free service and you'll need to subscribe to the Garden Waste Collection Scheme.

These are the compostable garden waste items you can put in your brown bin or sacks for collection:

  • branches no more than 5cm or 2 inches in diameter 
  • flowers
  • garden prunings
  • grass cuttings
  • hedge trimmings
  • leaves, plants and weeds
  • small shrubs

You must not put any of these waste items into your brown bin or compostable sacks:

  • compostable packaging (use the green bin)
  • flower pots
  • food waste (use the food caddy)
  • greenhouse glass or frame (or any other glass)
  • metal/aluminium foil and cans
  • paper, card or cardboard
  • pet waste (unless they're plant-eating animals)
  • plastics (of any kind)
  • tree logs, soil, rubble
