Oxford City Council maintains minor roads (side streets and estate roads) within the city boundary. Works are agreed and funded by Oxfordshire County Council as the highways authority.

Oxford District Services (ODS) handles highway services for us. They follow the same specifications, for the works carried out, as the County Council.

In Oxford, the County Council is responsible for:

  • maintenance of all main roads (trunk and classified roads)
  • dropped kerbs
  • street lighting
  • traffic lights and signals
  • pedestrian and cycle crossings
  • bridges
