Most properties in Oxford can recycle coffee pods as part of the normal kerbside recycling and waste collections. These are collected weekly but you must first register with Podback® the pod collection service.

How to get started

Check you can have collections:

If collections are available:

  • you'll be guided through registration and can request your free recycling bags
  • your bags should arrive about 5 working days after registration and you can start to recycle straight away

If collections aren't available at your property or for the coffee brand you use:

  • Podback® will suggest other options including drop off points or tell you how some brands collect their used pods
  • you can drop off your coffee pods at Redbridge Waste Recycling Centre

How to prepare your coffee pods for collection

Once you've registered, we will start to collect your coffee pod bags with your weekly collections as long as they're prepared properly, this means:

  • only use the bags provided by Podback® and don't put anything else in them
  • bag aluminium and plastic pods separately as these are recycled differently
  • drain your used pod before adding it to your recycling bag - bags shouldn't contain lots of liquid
  • no need to remove the grounds (unless you want them for composting) as these are separated during the recycling process
  • place your bags on top of any bin lid (but not your food caddy) on your usual collection day

How to get more bags

Once you've registered, Podback® will send new bags to you every six months.
