Local Discounts Overview
All properties will receive a new business rates valuation from the 1st of April 2023. The Government have announce some changes to the discounts available to help with revaluation or the current economic situation
Retail Discount
In the Autumn Budget of 2018 the chancellor announced a Retail Discount scheme. This scheme had already run in 2019/20, 2020/21, 2021/22 and the 2022/23 financial years. It is due to continue for the 2023/24 financial year with some changes to the maximum relief allowable and the percentage of relief awarded.
Supporting Small Businesses
This scheme supports businesses that will lose some, or all, of their Small Business Rates Relief due to the 2023 revaluation.
Subsidy Limitations
All discount and discretionary relief awards are required to comply with the EU law on Subsidy Limitations (formerly State Aid). If you have received any other relief we need a declaration from you that it does not exceed the increased rate of £315,000 (As defined by the Minimal Financial Assistance regulations).
