As a resident, you play an important role in helping to keep your estate clean, safe and welcoming. Small actions can make a big difference to your neighbours and your local environment.
Keep communal areas safe and accessible
Communal areas include shared spaces such as hallways, stairwells and entrances to buildings.
These areas must be kept clear so people can move around safely and use them as emergency escape routes.
You can help by:
- keeping communal areas tidy
- not leaving bikes, prams or pushchairs, personal belongings or unwanted items in shared spaces
- understanding that items left in these areas may be removed for safety reasons and you may be charged
- reporting any maintenance or repair issues to the caretaking service
Dispose of waste responsibly
You can help keep your estate clean by disposing of rubbish and waste properly.
You can do this by:
- using the Council's household waste and recycling collections
- putting rubbish out on the correct collection day or the evening before
- taking larger items or garden waste to an Oxfordshire County Council waste recycling centre
Help prevent fly-tipping
Fly-tipping is the illegal dumping of waste. It can damage the environment and create safety risks for residents.
You can help prevent it by:
- not leaving rubbish or unwanted items in public or shared spaces
- using the Council's bulky waste collection service to dispose of large items
- reporting fly-tipping to us as soon as possible
Report graffiti
Report graffiti on your estate so we can remove it as quickly as possible.
You can:
- report graffiti in communal areas to the caretaking service
- report graffiti elsewhere on the estate using the Report graffiti page
We cannot remove graffiti from private property. This is the responsibility of the property owner.
