This page explains parking spaces for motorcycles (motorbikes, scooters and mopeds) in the Oxford City Council run car parks across Oxford and the on-street parking in the city centre.

Motorcycles in car parks

Motorbikes, scooters and mopeds can park for free in most Oxford City Council run car parks. There are some exceptions where motorcycle parking is chargeable or unsuitable.

In summary:

  • some car parks have free designated areas for motorcycles
  • motorcycles can park in standard bays for free in most council run car parks (exceptions include Gloucester Green underground car park and the Redbridge, Pear Tree and Seacourt park and ride sites)
  • we recommend using Oxpens car park which includes a large designated area close to the entrance
  • we don't recommend Gloucester Green underground car park which is not free for motorcycles and is ramp activated
  • always check signs before you park

For parking charges and more information, see our Council car park directory.

Motorcycles and on-street parking

There's free designated city centre parking spaces for motorbikes, scooters and mopeds at St Ebbes and St Giles. See our Oxford parking locations map for the locations.

Oxfordshire County Council is responsible for all on-street parking in Oxford. For more information about motorcycle parking and enforcement, see Motorcycle parking (at Oxfordshire County Council)
