Oxford Local Plan 2045

We have started the preparation of a new Local Plan 2045 for the city to guide where new development can go. From Friday 27 June 2025 to Friday 8 August 2025 we consulted on the 'Preferred Options' (Regulation 18) consultation.

For a number of reasons, we intend to amend the plan period to 2025-2045, rather than 2022-2042. The evidence base is being updated to align with this plan period and we intend to take an updated  Local Development Scheme, to Cabinet in December, with an updated timetable for production of the local plan that allows another couple of months before the a further formal 'Submission' (Regulation 19) consultation, which is intended to take place early in 2026.  It will then be submitted for public examination by the Planning Inspectorate.
