The two-week Cowley Road clean-up has ended and the statistics are in.
The campaign, which ran from 19 March, targeted the Cowley Road area with an intensive deep clean. While this was underway Council staff went from door to door to advise residents and businesses on refuse collection and recycling.
Apart from sweeping the roads, the teams knocked on over 200 residential doors in Cowley, put on three recycling roadshows, visited 30 businesses to advise on refuse collection, investigated 24 cases where enforcement action may be taken, and removed a large amount of graffiti.
Local residents showed their enthusiasm for the project as over 160 signed a pledge to keep Cowley clean.
Shaun Hatton, Oxford Direct Services' Head of Operations, said: "Oxford City Council regularly carries out intensive, focused cleaning in targeted areas. As well as Cowley, we've already sent the teams around the Templar Road Estate, Barton, Rose Hill and Greater Leys. We are now planning our next clean up event, for June. Watch this space!
