The Museum of Oxford will host a free late-night spooky spectacular created by and for 16 to 25-year-olds to celebrate Halloween.

The night, called Damifino, will feature spooky shows, terrifying tours, gruesome games and eerie eats from Victorian vendors.

It will take place in the Old Museum (next to Town Hall) between 6.45pm and 10pm on Saturday 31 October 2015.

Damifino will include:

  • Tours of the Old Museum – led by our sinister Victorian collector – to take you behind the scenes and explore the museum’s more curious curios and experience the terrifying tales behind the objects’ histories. The tours will take place at 7pm, 7.40pm and 9pm
  • Take part in Victorian Halloween games amongst the oddities of the Old Museum
  • Enter our ghost story tent to hear some terrifying tales from Oxford’s ghoulish past
  • Try some eerie eats from our Victorian vendors.

Visitors will also be able to share their own scary moments from Oxford to create a city skyline of fears, jumps and spine-tingling memories.

The event has been entirely created and managed by the Museum of Oxford’s young volunteers. It has been designed by and for 16 to 25-year-olds, but all ages over 16 are welcome.

The event is part of the Museums at Night festivities that will see museums across the city open their doors late on Halloween.

David Juler, Development Assistant at the Museum of Oxford, said: “It has been a great experience working with our young volunteers to create an event for Museums at Night.

“Everything about the event has come from them – with their imagination and enthusiasm, they have created a spooky Museum happening for 16 to 25 year olds.

“They have planned a tour of the Museum’s spookiest objects, organised Victorian Halloween games, designed a fantastic array of food and worked with immersive theatre company Hidden Track to add drama to the evening.”

All the events are free but food and drinks will be priced individually. Please bring ID for purchasing alcohol.
