Oxford Leisure Centres are launching a new programme for people over the age of 16 with Diabetes.

The six week specialised programme starts January at Leys Pools & Leisure Centre, Ferry Leisure Centre and Barton Leisure Centre.

These group sessions will be run by highly qualified personal trainers, using the latest gym equipment and are suitable for all abilities.

The sessions run weekly for one hour and are £1.50 per person.

Oxford leisure Centres are managed by Fusion Lifestyle, a leading registered charity which provides quality sport, leisure and fitness activities to local communities, in partnership with Oxford City Council.

Julia Burson, Divisional Sports and Community Development Manager - Oxford said: “The sessions will support diabetic patients in Oxford in their attempts to manage their condition through physically activity and general fitness.

The sessions are suitable for gym novices and at just £1.50 a session we hope to encourage people to come and get fit in a supporting environment”

Councillor Linda Smith, Board Member for Leisure, Parks and Sport said: “I am glad to see that Fusion will be providing this specialised programme. I hope that it will be a welcome support for those with diabetes.”
