Oxford Ice Rink will need to make an unplanned closure from 7pm today, 27 August.
This is due to a planned installation of a second heat plate exchanger, which had been estimated by the ice specialist contractor to take three hours, but has over-run. Patch and causal skate sessions will take place today but the centre will need to close from 7pm as the ice won't be suitable for hockey later on. We expect the rink to be open as usual from tomorrow.
The installation of this additional kit will enable the repainting of lines ahead of the new hockey season and is therefore essential work.
