Oxford City Council has partnered with Discover to launch the Discover App, a ‘whole of place’ app highlighting everything there is to shop, eat and do in the city.
The free app is already a recognised tool for visitors and locals throughout the UK. It is a one-stop shop showcasing local businesses, activities and useful information to the people using it.
It also acts as a business support tool. Highlighting offers, promotions, and new businesses, all tailored to individuals’ preferences.
The app will cover the central area of Oxford, including the city centre, parts of Jericho, Osney and East Oxford.
Discover App is free for users and businesses. The project is part-funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, and the remaining is funded by Enterprise Oxfordshire, formerly Oxfordshire Local Enterprise Partnership (OxLEP).
City Centre Action Plan
The Council’s City Centre Action Plan 2021-2030 emphasises improved wayfinding and visitor experience.
Discover App will contribute to this by offering locals and visitors an easy way to navigate everything Oxford has to offer, including maps, tourist and travel information, family-friendly offerings, free activities and business listings.
The app will continuously update with new and timely information, keeping it relevant.
It can also facilitate individual businesses’ offers and listings.
