"We welcome Kidlington Parish Council's decision to proceed with town status for Kidlington. As the parish council says, this will help unlock important new funding streams to support Kidlington residents and businesses.
"Our local government reorganisation proposal, to create three councils across Oxfordshire and West Berkshire, would ensure a future Kidlington Town Council had a louder voice working in partnership with a new Greater Oxford Council than it would have under two unitaries or a single mega-council. In particular, it would play an important part within the new neighbourhood level governance that we are proposing to introduce.
"Our proposal aims to better tailor services to meet the needs of local residents, and empowering town and parish councils across Oxfordshire and West Berkshire is an important part of that."
Councillor Susan Brown, Leader of Oxford City Council
