Despite the efforts of Storm Claudia, Oxford’s Christmas Light Festival drew crowds to events, workshops and a variety of activities marking the switch on of the Christmas Lights.
Over the weekend of 14-16 December more than 40 events took place throughout Oxford from Cutteslowe in the north to Blackbird Leys in the south and many places between.
Events ran over the three days from 10am in the morning into the night when lights, lanterns and glittering illuminations could be seen at their most sparkling. In all this amounted to more 170 hours of activity for families to experience.
Pegasus Theatre in East Oxford, hosted a wide range of events during the weekend, catering for family audiences with curiosity, a desire to get crafty and keen to be entertained.
More than 11,600 people visited events, while 2,574 took part in workshops and activities offered throughout the weekend. 282 artists were involved in delivering the programme and 430 people got involved in online activities which continue to be available for people to access via the festival website.

Events like this truly are one of the highlights of Oxford's Christmas calendar, and it's wonderful to see so many organisations, community groups, and individuals coming together to create such a festive atmosphere."
