Following the success of 2024, Oxford City Council is pleased to confirm Keston Events Ltd will return as the organiser of the Christmas event on Broad Street, bringing even more festive cheer for '25
Following feedback from previous years and a change to the layout, 2024 saw a new Christmas event on Broad Street. It included a community stage with a varied programme of musical performances, an Alpine Lodge Bar, carousel and high-quality food, drink and gift stalls. Keston Events Ltd plan to enhance the successful event by adding a Ferris wheel, a Tower Bar to the east end of the street and an Entrance Archway at the west end of Broad Street.
The event will once again have a longer duration than in previous years. It will open on Saturday 22 November and run through until Wednesday 31 December (closed on Christmas Day), giving people more opportunities to enjoy the festive atmosphere. This proved a success last year, with Council data showing that footfall in the city centre in December 2024 surpassed 2023 and bucked national trends.
The Council and organisers hope for a similar outcome for 2025 and are working with local businesses and stakeholders to build on last year’s success.
Gala Lights will also return this year to illuminate the city centre with with a bespoke lighting scheme. The scheme combines historical elements – including replica lanterns from the Covered Market – with traditional twinkling lights to create a bespoke and uniquely Oxford lighting scheme.
The Council will work with Keston Events, Gala Lights and other local stakeholders to prepare an exciting programme of events throughout the city to celebrate Christmas in Oxford.
