Applications are now open for Round 2 of the Small Grants scheme.

The scheme offers financial support to community groups and non-profit organisations who are working to reduce inequality in Oxford. Applications for the Small Grants funding opened today (15 September),and will be open until 6 October.

There is a total of £34,000 available in this round, and organisations can bid for up to £3,000 to support their project.

Round 2 of the Small Grants scheme is part of our Community Impact Fund, it is the final round of community grants available for this financial year. The Community Impact Fund has already distributed £388,000 this year to 86 different local organisations.

Oxford is the UK's second most unequal city and the Community Impact Fund provides city council backing for organisations working to reduce inequality through the delivery of essential services, strategic projects, and community-led initiatives. Oxford City Council plans to provide over £1m of grant funding to support community and voluntary organisations through the Oxford Community Impact Fund over the next three years.

Comment

“Reducing the inequality which blights is our city is what motivated me to get involved in politics and become a councillor and so I’m delighted we’ve been able to focus our community grants programme on supporting those local organisations which are working to help make sure that everyone in Oxford, whatever their background or circumstances, are supported to make the most of all the opportunities our brilliant city has to offer.

"Oxford has a very vibrant voluntary and community sector but I know rising costs mean that times are tough right now, I expect this funding to provide a welcome boost for local groups working hard to serve our community and I look forward to being able to share news about how the funds are being put to good use making our city an even better place to live for everyone.”

Councillor Linda Smith, Cabinet Member for Housing and Communities
