The Museum of Oxford (MOX) is extending its opening hours for a late event to celebrate its 50th anniversary and community exhibition.
The free event, which will take place on Friday 26 September from 6pm-8.30pm will celebrate the completion of the Museum’s community co-curated exhibition, Our Oxford: 50 Years, 50 Stories.
The exhibition, which was created in celebration of the museum’s 50th anniversary, highlights 50 new stories about the heritage of Oxford. It aims to celebrate and bring together diverse stories, memories, and experiences to create a vibrant community-woven archive that represents Oxford in 2025.
The late event will celebrate the completion of the exhibition and will feature:
- Drop-in zine making with Imperfect Bound – an Oxford-based queer zine collective
- Acoustic live music from Mayura
- Badge making
- A short film screening of ‘10 Voices’ by the Shadowlight Artists - a collective of learning-disabled artists
The regular museum galleries, gift shop, and a paid bar will also be open throughout the evening.
This is a free drop-in event, but residents are encouraged to book a ticket in advance.

About the Museum
The Museum of Oxford is the only museum all about Oxford and tells the story of Oxford and its people through an exciting range of social history objects alongside interactive displays across two galleries. From football to fairgrounds, marmalade to Morris Motors, patron saints to pubs, barges, bones, and all types of quirky customs.
Inside the Museum’s two galleries, visitors can find collection items, video, audio, and interactive displays, and special exhibitions that uncover what makes Oxford such a special place to live, work and study.
The Museum of Oxford is open from Monday to Saturday from 10am-5pm.
