Parking on council property

We operate a resident parking permit scheme in some council-owned parking areas.

You must have a valid permit to park in these areas. If you do not, you may receive a Parking Charge Notice.

See Apply for a resident parking permit for a list of permit areas and how to apply.

Parking in your garden

You must get our written permission before parking a vehicle, trailer, caravan or boat in your council home garden.

You can only park in your garden if there is:

  • a suitable hard surface (hardstanding or driveway)
  • a dropped kerb (a lowered section of pavement that lets you drive a vehicle safely from the road onto your property)

If we give permission, you must:

  • apply for permission to install a hardstanding or driveway (if you do not already have one)
  • apply for a dropped kerb through Oxfordshire County Council
  • use approved contractors
  • oversee and pay for all the work

Parking guidelines for council residents

Help keep your estate safe and pleasant by parking responsibly and making sure your vehicle does not cause a nuisance.

Do:

  • make sure your vehicle is taxed and parked in a permitted space
  • make sure your car alarm works properly and doesn't go off accidentally
  • dispose of unwanted vehicles safely
  • report abandoned vehicles

Do not:

  • block other vehicles or park in someone else’s space
  • rev your engine unnecessarily
  • park motorbikes, scooters or mopeds in communal areas
  • carry out vehicle repairs on the estate, including in your garden, parking space or on the street
