The Garden Waste Collection Scheme is a yearly chargeable subscription service where we pick up your garden rubbish from your home in brown bins or compostable sacks.

This page explains how to make changes to your subscription including how to renew and how to cancel.

How to update your subscription

You can make changes to your Garden Waste Collection Scheme subscription online, these are:

  • Change of address
  • Change of direct debit details
  • Change the number of bins

How to renew your collections

How to renew your garden waste collections depends on whether you have a brown bin or use compostable sacks.

Renew your brown bin collections

We will write to you or send you an email with a new agreement before the existing contract expires. 

You must tell us you'd like to renew and make payment before the anniversary of your bin being delivered to your property.

If you do not make payment in time, the subscription will lapse, there will be no further collections and your bin will be retrieved.

Renew your compostable sack collections

Your compostable sack collections will end after 12 months.

You need to contact us to let us know you want to renew your subscription.

If you've not told us you'd like to renew by the anniversary of your subscription, your collections will stop even if you have sacks remaining.

How to cancel your collections

You can cancel your garden waste collections any time using our online form.

You can also cancel by letting your subscription lapse (do not renew).

What happens when your subscription is cancelled or has expired

If your Garden Waste Collection Scheme subscription has expired or been cancelled:

  • You'll need to make alternative arrangements to dispose of your garden waste such as composting your waste or taking it to the Household Waste Recycling Centre at Redbridge
  • If you have a brown bin you will need to leave your bin in an accessible and visible location - we will collect it within 10 working days of the expiry or cancellation date
  • You can also apply to rejoin the scheme
