A variation is applicable:
- To change to the licence holders' address
- Where the current licence holder has changed their name (e.g. due to marriage)
- To request increase / decrease in occupant or household number
- To change any existing conditions, including requesting additional time to undertake work
A variation is not applicable to change the licence holder from one person to another. This requires a new application. Licences are not transferable.
The authority may either grant or refuse the variation request. If the variation is refused, there is a right of appeal to the First-tier Tribunal.
Fee: There is no application fee for a variation.
Public Register: Each Licence must be listed in the Register of HMO Licences, which is available for inspection by the public at all reasonable times. It includes your name and address.
