Street naming and numbering process

The process we following when dealing with street naming and numbering applications is as follows:

1. Once we receive your application we will add it to our system and allocate it a reference number. This reference number should be used in all correspondence so help with ease of your application.
2. Before we can start any official SNN we do require a fee, if the fee is not paid within 3 months of a development completion date we have the right allocate the scheme without further consultation (SNN Policy 6.2.1).
3. We will take into consideration any requested names/numbering you wish but the decision ultimately lies with the council and must comply with out SNN Policy, the declaration on the application form you sign is your agreement to this.
4. Once full payment has been received a draft plan/layout of the proposed scheme will be sent to you for agreement. Your agreement must be emailed back to us. If any amendments are required and in line with our SNN policy, an updated plan will be sent to you.
5. Developments that include road names will go through a consultation process this is split into three phases:
   1. Phase 1 - two week consultation to notify local parties of development and gather suggestions for road names
   2. Phase 2 - two week consultation for voting on Phase 1 supplied names
   3. Phase 3 - confirmation of agreed names and 1 week allowance for further objections.
6. Once the draft plan has been confirmed the SNN Team will consult with internal parties and Royal Mail to confirm postcodes. When we have gathered all the required information we will finalise your address.
7. Your completed address will be emailed to you as a ‘Developer Notification’ within this there is instructions on how to activate your address with Royal Mail. You must activate your address for it to work/be registered with Royal Mail. For larger developments these should be done by the developer when the plots are near completion.
