As part of the GovDelivery newsletter sign up process, Oxford City Council ('the Council', 'we') collects and processes personal data relating to your newsletter preferences. We are committed to being transparent about how we collect and use that data and to meeting our data protection obligations. This statement is in compliance with current requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation 2018.
What information do we collect?
We collect a range of information about you.
For all newsletters, this includes email address, subscriber information (e.g., links clicked), subscriber preferences (which newsletters you have subscribed to), IP address, and browser information. You may also choose to give your name.
For bin collection reminder newsletters, we collect your physical address. Data will be stored in Granicus’ servers, which operate GovDelivery.
Why do we process personal data?
It is in the public interest that Oxford City Council collect and process your personal data so we can send you the correct newsletters you have subscribed to.
Processing data from GovDelivery allow us to send subscribers their correct newsletter preferences. We may also need to process data to respond to and defend against legal claims.
Who has access to data?
Your information may be shared internally for the purposes of correcting errors in newsletter delivery, such as the delivery of bin reminder emails. This includes the sharing of email addresses and physical addresses. For some we may share information with external partners or specialists involved in waste management and direct services.
Our GovDelivery software is hosted by the platform provider Granicus.
How long will we keep your information?
We will hold your data on file until you unsubscribe from the newsletters you have subscribed to, including bin reminder emails.
You can unsubscribe to any newsletter at any time (including bin reminders) by following the instructions at the bottom of the relevant newsletter.
