If you're moving out of your council home you'll need to settle your rent account. The easiest way to check your rent balance on the Tenant Portal.
If you're in credit
If your account is in credit when you move out, you can request a refund on the Tenant Portal.
We'll check your request and if a refund is due we'll usually process this within a few weeks.
Refunds are paid directly into your bank account.
If you owe us rent
If you plan to end your tenancy your must:
- give us four weeks' written notice
- pay rent up until your moving-out date
- arrange to clear any arrears
Former tenancy arrears occur when there are unpaid rent dues after moving out or ending a Council home tenancy. if you don't address your arrears we may take legal action.
