  • Have a track record of delivery related to the activities they seek funding for
  • Deliver the funded activity in Oxford - see our boundary map

The type of organisations we can fund

  • Registered charity
  • Voluntary or community organisation (an organisation set up with a bank account with at least two signatories required to approve expenditure; it would ordinarily have a governing document – like a constitution – but is not a registered charity or company)
  • Community interest company (CIC)
  • Charitable incorporated organisation (CIO)
  • Faith organisation e.g. a church, mosque, temple or synagogue
  • School or college
  • Co-operative, other social enterprise or community business
  • Company limited by guarantee (if it has a not-for-profit clause)
  • Individuals where they are looking to deliver significant public benefit

We cannot fund

  • Profit making organisations
  • Organisations based outside the UK
  • Activity taking place outside of Oxford
  • Activities which statutory organisations would normally be expected to provide under their statutory duties e.g provision of activities for pupils during the school day will not be funded, neither will the housing, health or social care of individuals
  • Organisations in receipt of Big Ideas funding (however they may be listed as a project partner)
  • National organisations which are not delivering Oxford specific projects

Other organisational considerations

Organisations can apply to all Small Grant rounds when they individually open for applications but should consider the but should consider the balance criterion

Whilst the funded activity must be delivered in Oxford (see our boundary map), it is not a requirement that organisations be based in the city. We recognise that there are Oxfordshire groups based outside of the city who deliver essential services to our residents. There will, however, be a preference to support groups based in Oxford / Oxfordshire over groups based further afield.
