Council makes online services easier to use

Published: Wednesday, 13th December 2017

Oxford City Council has improved its website to make it easier for residents to find the information they are looking for and to use council services online.

The council has updated its Contact Us page, and website visitors can now navigate more easily to the specific service they need, and find out how to apply online or the other ways they can contact the council about their enquiry.

This has been introduced after listening to feedback from customers about problems they had with contacting the council.

The council has also introduced a webchat feature, which allows website visitors to communicate in real time with council staff to help guide them to the pages they are looking for. The webchat feature is managed by the Customer Service Centre.

Webchat is available from 9am until 5pm on weekdays, although availability may be reduced when the Customer Service Centre is very busy with customer calls.

The Contact Us page is at www.oxford.gov.uk/contact.

Councillor Susan Brown, Deputy Leader of Oxford City Council and Board Member for Customer and Corporate Services, said: “As more and more of life is conducted online, we thought it was important to improve our website so people can find and use our services more easily. We are also providing webchat that links dedicated customer services officers to website visitors if they need help in finding their way around the site.”
