Oxford City Council’s Streetscene team swept away the competition at the recent APSE (Association of Public Service Excellence) awards.

The team won Best Service Team of the year - Street Cleansing and Streetscene category.

These awards, designed to recognise excellence in local government front line services across the UK, are open to all local authorities and their public sector partners. The awards included 22 categories, covering the vast majority of local services.

The awards were launched over 16 years ago and aim to recognise councils from across the UK that show an ability to innovate, demonstrate new concepts, show best practice and continuously improve services to their communities.

A delighted Councillor John Tanner, Board Member for a Clean and Green Oxford, said: “Oxford City Council takes great pride in the services it delivers and our Streetscene team is no exception. They are out in all weathers and through public holidays to try to keep the city spotless for residents and visitors. This award success has only been made possible through their hard work, dedication, vision and commitment. It’s a fantastic result and a richly-deserved award. Well done to everyone involved.”
