Oxford City Council will host a new Pop Up Ping! Pong Parlour happening this summer.
For the month of August, residents and visitors in Oxford can drop in to the Pop Up Ping! Pong Parlour and play free of charge.
The pop up parlour, set to take place between 11am-6pm in Oxford University Rugby Club pavilion in Iffley Road will open its doors every week day from Monday 7 August until Friday 25 August.
With 3 tables, social play, and special events taking place, there is plenty of opportunity to come and get involved in the fun. There will also be a chance to challenge our Ping! bot and see how many returns can you get in within a minute when the robot fires balls at different angles and speeds.
Players of any skill level are invited to come along. No need to book in advance, just grab one of the bats and balls provided and start playing.
Oxford was named as the fittest city in the UK, after a survey of 2,000 adults by Adapt Nutrition found 74 per cent of those asked in the city worked out at least once a week. The City Council has 20 permanent, outdoor and free-to-use ping pong tables across the city, including across the City Council’s parks and open spaces.
Councillor Linda Smith, Oxford City Council Board Member for Leisure, Parks and Sports, said:–“We are delighted that Ping! Oxford will be returning for another year. Table tennis is just one of the many fun and exciting options that Oxford City Council provides for groups of all ages to stay active. We hope that many people will come down and have a go.”
There will be limited parking available. It is recommended that for easy access to arrive on foot, cycle or on public transport. Look out for the flags and banners to help you find your way to ping pong fun!
