Oxford Station public consultation exhibitions announced

Published: Tuesday, 11th July 2017

An exhibition on the Oxford Station Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) consultation is now available to view at the City Council’s Offices at St Aldate's Chambers.

The exhibition will move to the Oxford Rail Station on selected dates during the public consultation period, which opened on the 30th June and will run until 25th August 2017.

The SPD sets out an indicative Masterplan which builds on the original masterplan developed by the tripartite partnership of Oxford City Council, Oxfordshire County Council and Network Rail in conjunction with the train operating companies and the Department of Transport.

The SPD provides advice and guidance on how to redevelop the Oxford Station Area to create a vibrant and integrated transport hub within the framework of some key design principles.

The following exhibition dates have been scheduled:

  • Oxford Station concourse: the exhibition can be viewed between Wednesday 12 July to Friday 14 July; on Friday 14 July council officers as well as technical consultants will be available to discuss the proposals (9.00am – 12pm and 3pm – 6pm),
  • Oxford Station concourse: the exhibition can be viewed between Wednesday 26 July to 28 July, on Saturday 29 July council officers as well as technical consultants will be available to discuss the proposals (9am – 12pm and 3pm – 6pm),
  • Oxford Station concourse: the exhibition can be viewed between Wednesday 9 August to 11 August, on Saturday 12 August council officers as well as technical consultants will be available to discuss the proposals (9am – 12pm and 3pm – 6pm)
  • Town Hall (Long Room): on Saturday 12 August there will be a drop-in session for the public and stakeholders to meet council officers and the technical consultants

Paper copies of the Oxford Station SPD and the Strategic Environmental Assessment Screening Report are available to view in libraries in Oxford and at the City Council’s offices at St Aldate’s Chambers. Consultation summary leaflets and questionnaires are also available at libraries.

Councillor Bob Price, Leader of Oxford City Council, said: “This SPD will provide additional comprehensive and clear design advice which will build on our broader development plans for the West End of Oxford. The regeneration of this site will aim to maximise the development potential of the station area and boost development opportunities for surrounding sites.”
