Council scoops another APSE award

Working on behalf of Oxford City Council, ODS beat off six other councils to snap up the Business Maintenance Award from the Association for Public Service Excellence (APSE) at a ceremony at the Grand Hotel, Blackpool earlier this month.

“The City Council, together with ODS, aims to deliver the best services we can and I want to thank and congratulate the staff responsible for winning this award.
"Getting awards isn't just a self-congratulatory pat on the back though. It's professional recognition from our peers that our building maintenance team from ODS is at the top of their game. Recognition like this is only arrived at through sheer hard work and, as such, it is richly-deserved.”

Cllr Nigel Chapman, City Council Cabinet Member for Safer Communities and Customer Focused Services

ODS has been a finalist, on behalf of the Council, for the award for five of the last six years by showing consistent high standard work. But this year the City Council and ODS came out on top by showing that:

  • they kept over 99 per cent of appointments on time
  • 99 per cent of emergency repairs were completed on time
  • empty properties were quickly turned around
  • 100 per cent of gas appliance certificates (CP12) have been in place every year for the last nine years.

"It all adds up to ODS providing a high quality service to City Council tenants. We are committed to continuous improvement and assess ourselves against the best performer so we can show excellent value for money for the Council. Now we will look to make sure our high standards are maintained so that we can continue to show high levels of customer satisfaction.”

Ian Batchelor, Director of Construction and Building Services at ODS

“These winners have gone above and beyond in the pursuit of value for money, productivity and quality in service delivery. They should all enjoy this well-deserved recognition of their achievements among their peers.”

Debbie Johns, APSE Head of Performance Networks
