We may need to rewire your home to keep it safe and compliant with current electrical standards. Rewiring usually takes around 5 working days.

This page explains what will happen during the work and how you can prepare.

Before work starts

Before work starts, you can help by moving furniture and belongings away from sockets and switches throughout your home.

What to expect during the work

During the rewiring, we may need to:

  • lift floorboards and carpets (floorboards will be re‑secured and carpets placed back down, but not professionally re-fitted)
  • remove sections of wall to install new wiring, which can create a lot of dust (we will re‑plaster affected areas but will not redecorate)
  • switch off your electricity supply for safety reasons, only for as long as necessary

At the end of each day, we will make sure you have essential services, including:

  • power and lighting in all rooms
  • hot and cold water in your bathroom or kitchen
  • a working toilet
