As a leaseholder, you are usually allowed to sublet your property as long as you are not a leaseholder at Singletree.
Before you sublet
Before you sublet your property, you should:
- check that your lease allows subletting
- check your mortgage agreement as your bank or building society may need to give permission
- tell us that you plan to sublet your property
Tell us about subletting
Use our online form to tell us that you plan to sublet your property.
You will need:
- your name and contact details
- the address of the property you plan to sublet
- the address where we can contact you
- the managing agent's name, address and contact details (if relevant)

Your responsibilities as a leaseholder
If you sublet your property, you are still responsible for meeting the terms of your lease.
This means:
- you are responsible for your tenant’s behaviour
- you are still responsible for paying ground rent and service charges
- if your tenant breaks the terms of the lease, we will take action against you, not your tenant
We recommend that your tenancy agreement includes the same rules and regulations that apply to you under your lease.
Your responsibilities as a landlord
As a landlord, you must meet legal safety requirements, including carrying out gas and electrical safety checks. Find more information on the Landlords and Agents pages.
All privately rented properties in Oxford City Council’s jurisdiction must have a licence. Learn more about Selective Licensing and how to apply.
