If you’re facing issues with a neighbouring property that’s in disrepair and affecting your property, it’s important to address the situation carefully.

Here’s how you can manage it:

  1. Start by talking to your neighbour. Approach them in a friendly manner and explain your concerns politely. It’s often the quickest way to resolve issues
  2. If there's no improvement within a reasonable time, and the property is privately rented, get in touch with the landlord or agent
  3. If you’ve already spoken to your neighbour or their landlord/agent and the problem persists, contact the Private Sector Safety Team for support
  4. In cases where you suspect the property is an unlicensed house in multiple occupation (HMO) or a poorly managed HMO in disrepair, reach out to the HMO Enforcement Team for investigation

It’s important to try and resolve these issues amicably at first, but if necessary, Oxford City Council is here to help. For assistance, contact the relevant team based on your situation.
