Our cemeteries service

Oxford City Council does not directly arrange funerals or the erection of memorials. Most people choose a funeral director or memorial mason to act on their behalf.

We provide burial facilities at four cemeteries in Oxford. Our Cemeteries team offers a compassionate and professional service to assist funeral directors and families during bereavement. A Cemeteries Service manager will be present at the cemetery on the day of the burial.

How to contact the Cemeteries Team

Our opening hours are:

• Monday to Thursday: 8.30am to 4.30pm
• Friday: 8.30am to 4pm
• Saturday, Sunday, and Bank Holidays: Closed

For face-to-face meetings, please call us to make an appointment to ensure staff availability.

For chapel viewings, please book an appointment as they are locked when not in use.

Finding a burial plot

If you have the section reference for a plot, each cemetery has a map showing the different sections to help you locate it.

If you need precise location information for a specific grave, contact us and we can email you a detailed cemetery map and section map.
