If you're unable to carry out small home maintenance tasks because of your age, disability or health needs, you may be able to get help through our Repairs Exemption Scheme.
The scheme helps eligible council tenants keep their homes safe, comfortable and in good condition.
What help is available
We can help with home maintenance tasks such as:
- decorating
- minor internal carpentry (excluding bath panels)
- wall tiling
Who can apply
You can apply if you are an Oxford City Council tenant and you are either:
- aged 65 or over
- receiving Disability Living Allowance (DLA)
- receiving Personal Independence Payment (PIP)
When the scheme is available
The scheme is open from April to March each year.
Funding is limited and applications close when the annual budget has been spent.
We do not keep a waiting list. If funding is no longer available, you will need to apply again when the scheme reopens in April.
How to apply
To apply for the Repairs Exemption Scheme:
- download the Repairs Exemption Application Form
- post your completed form and evidence to the address on the form
You will need to provide either:
- proof of age, such as a passport, driving licence or birth certificate
- your DLA or PIP award letter
What happens after you apply
We will review your application and supporting evidence.
If your application is successful, we will contact you to discuss the work you need and arrange an appointment.
We will work to support you so that your home is maintained.
