Tickets go on sale for the Lord Mayor’s annual Christmas carol concert

The concert, which raises money for local charities, will take place in Oxford Town Hall between 2.30pm and 4.30pm on Sunday 19 December.

The programme will feature the usual array of festive Christmas carols. Many of the carols will encourage the audience to join in, with the backing of the Oxfordshire County Youth Orchestra and the Town Hall’s famous Father Willis organ.

Tickets, which cost £3 each, can be purchased:

• From the Cards for Good Causes shop, which is located in the Long Room in Oxford Town Hall. The shop is open Monday to Saturday, 10am till 4pm

All proceeds from the concert will be donated to the Lord Mayor’s supported organisations: Oxfordshire Mind, Ark-T and Wood Farm Youth Centre.

Members of the public can also give a donation directly to the Lord Mayor’s supported charities by texting the word LORDMAYOR followed by the amount you wish to donate to 70085 – e.g. ‘LORDMAYOR 10’ to donate £10.

Last year’s Christmas carol concert was cancelled due to the pandemic.

This year we will be asking attendees over the age of 18 will be required to show proof of vaccination status or proof of a negative lateral flow test COVID-19 test to gain entry into the carol concert, so please allow extra time to enter the main hall.  Guests are asked to be seated by 2.15pm.

Oxfordshire Mind

Oxfordshire Mind is here to make sure anyone in Oxfordshire with a mental health problem has somewhere to turn for advice and support. Their services include housing, talking therapies, benefits advice, a confidential and free information line, courses, physical activity programmes, volunteering opportunities, and peer-support groups. They won’t give up until everyone experiencing a mental health problem gets both support and respect.

Ark-T

Ark-T Centre is home to a whole range of ventures; creative workshops, dance workshops & music classes. There’s a recording studio for young musicians, rehearsal space for theatre and dance, performance and concert area and studios for a group of resident artists. Camarados and the Living Room Café provides space for people to meet each other and enjoy delicious home cooked food, or just relax with a cup of coffee.

Wood Farm Youth Centre

Wood Farm Youth Centre opened in 2002 and aims to provide a safe space for young people and a range of recreational and creative activities. The Centre is run by local residents and volunteers and is based in a portacabin in the grounds of the Wood Farm Primary School. The centre usually runs 3 youth sessions per week and is also used by the Wood Farm Parent and Toddler Group and other local community groups.
