Oxford City Council has launched a public consultation to seek people’s views on what could be included in a planning framework for the redevelopment of West End and Osney Mead.

The council is in the early stages of preparing a supplementary planning document (SPD) for the area, which contains a number of key development sites with different landowners. The SPD will provide an overarching framework to coordinate public realm improvements, infrastructure and design across these developments. The SPD consultation sets out the council’s initial thoughts on how this framework could guide cohesive development in the area.

West End and Osney Mead already contain a wide range of buildings and uses including homes, retail, education, community, public transport and the evening economy. The council’s vision is to retain these while transforming the area by providing new homes and a focal point for innovation and research – areas where Oxford and Oxfordshire already have a strong track record.

The consultation runs until 30 April 2021 and people can take part by completing the questionnaire on our Consultation pages.
