National regulations set out the minimum requirements for consultation and publicity at key stages of a neighbourhood plan's preparation. In practice, it should involve an ongoing process of dialogue and collaboration with the local community.
Responsibility for this consultation depends on which stage the plan's development has reached: sometimes it can be our role, but mainly it is the role of the neighbourhood forum group. It is for the neighbourhood forum to decide who to consult, we can only advise.
We have produced a summary of how we will consult the community at the relevant stages. For the other stages, there is helpful guidance produced by Planning Aid England to give the forums ideas about how to carry out their consultations.
