General maintenance of the cemeteries is carried out by the Cemeteries Service, although relatives may wish to maintain their own graves e.g. the planting of annual flowers.
Not all graves may be planted out, such as graves on lawn sections. Further information can be obtained from the Cemeteries Office.
Rabbits graze on a wide range of plants and can cause sufficient damage to kill young trees, shrubs and herbaceous plants. Below is a list of some choices of plants that are relatively resistant to rabbits as recommended by the Royal Horticultural Society. If you wish to plant flowers in our cemeteries please consider using rabbit resistant plants
We carry out the memorial checks as part of a legal requirement under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
Visit our Memorial Inspections page for full details.
