Introduction

What is this form and how will it be assessed?

By completing this form you are applying to be included on the Council’s Housing Register and your application will be assessed under the criteria set out in the Council’s Allocations Scheme

Completing this form does not guarantee that you will be accepted on the General Housing Register. Please see our Allocations scheme for reasons why you may not qualify.

Throughout this form, reference to "Oxford" means Oxford city and does not include surrounding areas.

If you are already housed by Oxford City Council or a partnered Housing Association, you need to submit a Transfer Application instead. Please do not proceed with this form.

You can complete this form on any computer, smart phone or tablet.

You can go to our Customer Services team for advice. In the first instance, please call us on 01865 249811. We also operate a walk-in service from the Oxford Library, Queen Street, Westgate, OX1 1DJ. The walk-in opening hours are 10am-3pm on Monday, Wednesday and Friday ONLY. We can only offer advice and guidance using these services..

How long will it take me to be housed?

Unfortunately, we can’t offer a home to everyone who applies.

We are only able to house around 5 people out of every 100 on the housing register each year, and more applicants assessed as having the highest housing needs are added each month.

Even those assessed with the highest need may wait a very long time.

Applicants with a low need who require a one bed or family sized property can expect to wait around 10-20 years, or may never be housed.

If you or your partner are not a British Citizen and do not have the right to live, work and access public funds in the UK, contact us before completing this form.
