Redevelopment of the former Northfield Hostel (OX4 6LD)

Oxford needs homes. Our city is amongst the least affordable in the country and there are currently 2,850 families on our waiting list for council housing.

The former Northfield Hostel and neighbouring sports field is currently owned by Oxfordshire County Council and has not been used since the closure of the hostel in 2014. The site is allocated for residential development in the adopted Local Plan 2036.

Oxford City Council, in association with the County Council, are proposing to redevelop the site with 61 new homes, of which 51 will be provided as social rent and other affordable tenures. The remaining 10 homes are expected to be offered for private sale.

Oxford City Council is committed to consulting local residents and businesses and welcomes your feedback, which will be considered carefully before we take the proposals forward.
