Jane de Lange, Skating Co-ordinator at Oxford Ice Rink said: “This is such a fantastic achievement, many of these skaters have come through our Academy after starting in our Learn to Skate programme, and now train with our Elite squad. It wouldn’t have been possible without the support of Fusion Lifestyle, Oxford City Council and our coaching staff, we are very proud of them all”.
Mike Harrison, General Manager of the rink said: “We are all really proud of all our brilliant skaters and their amazing coaches. We wish them all the best of luck at the championships and we hope as many locals as possible come along and cheer on these talented skaters on at the Winter Spectacular in December”
Councillor Linda Smith, Board Member for Leisure and Housing at Oxford City Council said: “It’s wonderful that Oxford will be sending a record number of skaters to the British Figure Skating Championships this month. These skaters show the heights which can be achieved with hard work and dedication to the sport, but Oxford Ice Rink is a fabulous asset for skaters of all types, from the casual weekend user enjoying a fun way to get some healthy exercise right through to those competing at an elite level who will be entertaining the crowds at the perennially popular Winter Spectacular”.
