Oxford City Council is delighted to support the Race for Life 5k obstacle event – Pretty Muddy – taking place at South Park on Saturday 16 September with staggered starts from 10 am.
Returning to Oxford for a second year, the women-only, non-competitive event will see participants scrambling over nets and climbing frames, sliding down inflatable slides and clambering over hurdles – all to raise money for Cancer Research UK and help scientists find new ways to treat cancer and save more lives.
Lucy Hetherington, Cancer Research UK’s Oxford Event Manager, said: “We’re so excited to bring Race for Life Pretty Muddy to Oxford again. We have had a great response and are expecting more than 1,600 women to get involved. Whether they plan to wade their way through or make a big splash, every step they take will help to bring forward the day when all cancers are cured.”
Councillor Dee Sinclair, Board Member for Culture and Communities, said: “We are looking forward to welcoming the Pretty Muddy event back to Oxford and are delighted so many local women are getting involved to help raise money for a very worthy cause.”
The Oxford Bus Company will be putting on extra buses on the 400 services from Thornhill and Seacourt park&ride for the event.
