Hundreds of local jobs and training opportunities will be available at a one-day job fair being held in Rose Hill, Oxford. It takes place at the Rose Hill Community Centre, Carole’s Way, OX4 4HF, on 23 March from 10am to 2pm.
The job fair is organised by award-winning social enterprise and employment charity, Aspire Oxford, in partnership with Oxford City Council, Jobcentre Plus and Renaissance Coaching. Jobseekers can just turn up for the event - there is no need to book. Entry is free and refreshments will be provided.
The fair is looking to repeat the success of the five community job fairs that have been held on East Oxford estates since 2015. The last event, in The Leys, attracted over 350 jobseekers and 30 employers.
This job fair will also celebrate the launch of two new, Big Lottery funded projects – the Rose Hill Regeneration Project supporting and empowering local residents, and the Unlocking Potential Project supporting young people to develop their employability through enterprise.
It’s a chance for job-seekers and residents looking for work, training opportunities and expert support to find out about and apply for hundreds of vacancies from over 30 employers and training providers, and get free advice and support about how to prepare for employment and build their employability and self-confidence
Cllr Susan Brown, Board Member for Customer and Corporate Services, said: “Job fairs are a great way for job seekers to meet potential employers face-to-face and for employers to get to know the local workforce. For the job fair in Rose Hill we have lined up an impressive and varied array of organisations that all have something different to offer.
“I want to encourage people to come along and see for themselves. That ideal new job may just be a short walk away.”
Paul Roberts, Chief Operating Officer from Aspire, said: “We’re very excited to bring the job fair back to Rose Hill. It will provide residents with the opportunity to meet lots of employers and training providers with hundreds of vacancies in Oxford, find out more about up and coming training courses and jobs in the local area, and get advice about how to prepare for employment – and it’s in a friendly, community location too.”
Employers attending include Fortem, John Lewis, the Oxford Bus Company, Travelodge, the Oxfordshire Association of Care Providers, Unipart, TK Maxx, NHS Providers, Primark, Pret a Manger, Sainsbury’s and many more.
