City Council marks Armed Forces Day on Saturday

Published: Friday, 23rd June 2023

Oxford City Council will be flying the Armed Forces Day flag on Saturday (24 June) to recognise the contribution of all our armed forces personnel, veterans, reservists and forces families.

Nearly 2,500 veterans live in Oxford according to the 2021 census, the first time this data has been collected.

“As we mark Armed Forces Day, as the Council’s Armed Forces and Veterans Champion and myself a former member of the Armed Forces (RAF), I am immensely proud of all the branches of our Armed Forces.  I would also like to draw your attention to another branch of the Armed Forces.

“Remember, our Armed Forces do not make Foreign Policy but they are prepared to pay the ultimate price on our behalf.”

Councillor Rae Humberston, Armed Forces and Veterans Champion
