New bin collection rounds leads to little service disruption

As the new bin collection rounds enter their second week of operation, Oxford City Council and ODS want to thank residents for taking note of the changes and helping the new collection schedule transition go smoothly.

Most residents in areas affected by the changes took account of the publicity they had received in advance, including letters, bin tags and social media postings. This, coupled with news releases and press coverage, has ensured that there was little disruption and few missed bins right from the start of the changes on 4 April.

The Council is now reminding any residents who may not yet have realised the changes have come into effect to check their collection days and make sure they put their bin out on their correct day. They can find out if their collection day has changed by checking online: www.oxford.gov.uk/mybinday. Additionally, residents can use the new GovDelivery collection day email reminder service, available through the bin collection day page.

Domestic recycling and waste collection rounds in Oxford have remained the same for the last 10 years, but during this time the quantity and quality of materials collected have changed dramatically. Oxford City Council and ODS have now adjusted some of the collection routes and times to take account of the changes and improve the service. This change has affected about 35,000 households - around a half of properties in the city.
