Gloucester Green’s celebrated outdoor food market is set to open up on Sundays.

The market, which is run by LSD Promotions on behalf of Oxford City Council, normally operates Wednesdays and Thursdays between 9am and 4pm, and Fridays and Saturdays between 9am and 5pm.

It features a wide-ranging offer, including street food, fresh produce, household goods, flowers, books, hats and clothes. The street food element includes food from more than 20 countries and features vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options.

Now, starting from Sunday 25 October 2020, the street food market will open every Sunday, from 11am to 5pm.

The Sunday opening will initially be a trial until Christmas, but could be extended if it proves popular.

“It’s testament to the popularity of Gloucester Green market that, even in these difficult times, it is set to extend its success to Sundays and offer Oxford’s visitors more opportunity to come along and explore the produce on offer.

“Oxford City Council has supported local business right through the coronavirus crisis and we believe that extending Gloucester Green market into Sunday will provide an invaluable boost for traders.

“I hope everyone will support this addition to the market’s schedule so that we can look to extend it into next year.”

Councillor Mary Clarkson, Cabinet Member for the City Centre, Covered Market and Culture

Gloucester Green market introduced socially distanced stalls, a hand sanitising station and signage to guide people around the stalls when it reopened from lockdown in June.

"We are delighted to be operating an additional market on Sundays at Gloucester Green.

“LSD Promotions have been the market operator in Oxford Gloucester Green for a number of years from every Wednesday to Saturday. We believe that having the opportunity to extend this to Sunday will be invaluable to our traders who have naturally felt the business effects of COVID-19 this year.

“In addition, we are also really excited to offer residents and visitors of Oxford a COVID secure, safe, outdoor space to enjoy their Sundays and, with their social bubbles and households, to have the opportunity to try some tasty street food and shop in the run up to Christmas, all in a great location.
