Cllr Susan Brown, Leader of Oxford City Council has made some temporary changes to Cabinet Members’ responsibilities.

This is to reflect the changing work of the Council in responding to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

The changes ensure that all Cabinet Members are engaged in supporting officers across a number of essential work streams including the setting up and operation of Local Resource Hubs, expanding single room provision for rough sleepers and linking with key partners in the NHS, public health care and Thames Valley Police, as well as reorienting service delivery in Oxford Direct Services to focus on essential services. Much of the Council’s normal work has stopped and is not being currently progressed.

The full Council Cabinet responsibilities are available on the Council's website.

"At this time of crisis we need to adapt to make sure that our essential services are kept running, while rapidly addressing the new priorities involved in our citywide response to the coronavirus. Much of the day to day running of the council has changed out of all recognition over the last few weeks and I would like to take this opportunity to recognise the extraordinary work of council staff in transforming our services to support local communities in these very strange and unsettling times.

“To reflect the changing work of the council I have introduced some temporary changes to the cabinet’s portfolios which better reflect the current urgent tasks of the council in coordinating our response to the crisis.”
