More than 100 people have signed up to the gym at the new Rose Hill Community Centre – a week after the £4.76m building opened.
The flagship centre, which officially opened on Saturday (30/1), also features meeting and conference facilities, social club, community library, advice centre, youth suite, changing rooms, health facility and ballroom.
Already 103 people have signed up to the gym, which features 21 stations including weights, bikes, cross trainers and running machines.
The gym, along with all activities at the new community centre, is heavily discounted for local residents. It costs local residents only £15 per month to join the gym, compared to the normal price of £23 per month.
Part of Rose Hill is the most deprived area in Oxford, and within the 10 per cent most deprived areas in England. Health is a key indicator that the Government uses to determine deprivation levels.
David Hunt, manager of Rose Hill Community Centre, said: βIt is great to see this state-of-the-art gym used by local residents β and those from further afield.β
