Following the latest government guidance on tackling the Coronavirus outbreak, the City Council has announced it will suspend the #WeAreOxford grant scheme until further notice.

The aim of the #WeAreOxford grant fund is to bring people together to create stronger communities. With the latest government advice recommending social distancing for the foreseeable future, the immediate needs of Oxford’s communities will be better served through other activity that does not focus on physical social gatherings.

"I want to thank all the organisations who applied for their commitment to strengthening our communities.

“This pandemic highlights how important a sense of community is for us all, but the immediate need is to support people in their own homes and protect the health of our most vulnerable residents. We are already seeing communities responding to this crisis in exactly the spirit that the #WeAreOxford campaign aims to promote.
“We are working with the Oxford Hub, a volunteer and community organisation, who are co-ordinating volunteer support for vulnerable people through this challenging time. We will work with them to provide facilities and support for volunteer co-ordination.

“If you are wondering how you can help in your local area please, register with Oxford Hub so they can add you to the growing army of volunteers.”
