Oxford City Council will fly the Flag of the Commonwealth of Nations to mark Commonwealth Day on Monday (8 March).
The annual celebration is observed by people all over the Commonwealth in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean and Americas, the Pacific and Europe.
Commonwealth Day 2021 is themed 'Delivering a Common Future' and will highlight how the 54 member countries are ‘innovating, connecting and transforming’ to help achieve some of its biggest goals, including fighting climate change.
The Commonwealth flag will be raised at 10am on the flag pole above and the 1930s extension of Oxford Town Hall.

“The theme this year is 'Delivering a Common Future: Connecting, Innovating, Transforming'. In light of the global pandemic and how restrictions have affected our ability to come together to work, celebrate and support each other it has emphasised how we have needed to adapt our ways of working and connecting with people.
“Being innovative and utilising technology that a few years ago was not there, Zoom and Face Time for instance has enabled us to keep in touch with friends, family and work colleagues. So the theme of Delivering a Common Future is very appropriate this year.”
